Ruidoso’s spectacular mountains makes it the locale for all sorts of outdoor fun and activities. But, we also like to create our own diversions such as annual traditions ranging from Aspenfest to the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium to the Golden Aspen Motorcycle Rally.

February 16: mARTi-Gras: Ruidoso Convention Center.
6-11 pm. Gumbo contest, and Costume contest. Admission $10, children under

March 14-16: Mountain Living Home & Garden Show:
Convention Center. Over 200 experts & retailers demonstrate new products

March 22: Easter Egg Hunt:
Cedar Creek Park, 10:30am sharp! This fun annual event is always held the
Saturday before Easter: Have your kids (age 1-10) 'hunt' for over 5,000 eggs,
visit with the Easter Bunny & Smokey Bear. Fire engine rides,

April 25-27: 2nd Annual Ruidoso Kite Festival:
Corner of Hull and White
Mountain, near Kidz Konnection Park. The Ruidoso Parks and Rec Dept and
WeCree8 join forces to present this 2nd Annual event. Join us for a wild and
brilliant display of kites; bring your own, or buy one here! Hours: Fri:
1-7pm, Sat: 9am – 6pm; Admission $2 adults, $1 to children 12 and under.
Donations are welcome; organizers are in need of additional tents, canopies

May 3: 2nd Annual Sprint Triathlon:
Ruidoso Athletic Club (The RAC) and
Wingfield Park on Center Street, 8am. This 1st Annual heart-pumping event is
sure to become a classic: course includes a 500 meter swim, 10 mile bike
race and a 3.1-mile Run. Entry Fees TBA; proceeds benefit S.E.R.G. (Special
Events Resource Group), which provides educational scholarships for the

May 23: Opening Day – Ruidoso Downs Racetrack:
The Ruidoso Downs Race Track
and Casino kick off horseracing season today, which runs through Labor Day,
September 1st with the running of the world's richest Quarter Horse race,
the All-American Futurity! Live racing will take place every Thursday
through Sunday, beginning at 1pm, except on holiday weekends, when the
horses will run Friday through Monday; Free admission in Grandstand area.
